(Vancouver, B.C.) - Interactive Netcasting Systems (INSINC), a Vancouver-based
Internet services company, announced today that it has been chosen to provide
live Internet broadcasting of the 20th Annual Banff Television
Festival.
The
festival, June 13 - 19, 1999, brings together industry professionals
from 40 different countries for this annual competition and
conference at the Banff Springs Hotel.
INSINC, which specializes in audio and video "streaming" for the
Internet, will make more than 20 hours of events from the conference available
live and on-demand on the Internet.
Viewers will be able to use their PCs web browser to view seminars,
panel discussions and workshops as they happen. INSINC will create a
unique feature page specifically dedicated to the Banff Rockie Awards on
Monday night, featuring acceptance speeches, presentations, and other
highlights. The awards ceremony will honour program excellence in 14 television
genres. As well, daily wrap up features will complement each day's
programming.
"Our festival is about celebrating excellence in television on an
international scale," said the technical director of Banff Television
Festival, Ric Proctor. "With INSINCs support, were able to
provide live and recorded video of festival events to anyone
connected to the Internet wherever they are in the world."
"Just as the festival is a great forum for many up-and-coming TV creators
to showcase their talents, it is also a great showcase for ours at
INSINC," said INSINC founder and visionary, Hugh Dobbie.
"Broadcasting such a world-class event for the second consecutive year, proves
that the Internet is a truly viable communications and entertainment
medium. Convergence has arrived!"
