Canucks.com
2.001 puts one in the net with site re-launch Multimedia
site offers daily updates, video highlights, audio and video
streaming, fan interaction
Vancouver,
BC The Vancouver Canucks added brawn to their on-line
roster today with the launch of a completely re-designed
and upgraded canucks.com.
The team’s website will give Canucks’ fans an inside view
of the day-to-day happenings of a team in the NHL. The site
will feature a heavy emphasis on multimedia, with gameday
postings of audio, video, photos, the latest news and in-depth
reports from the Vancouver Canucks.
"We
all know the internet is becoming a tremendous source of
information for sports fans," said Brian Burke, President
& GM of the Vancouver Canucks. "Canucks.com is a great opportunity
for the team to speak directly to our fans."
"There
is no website like this in hockey today." said Chris Hebb,
Vice President, Broadcast and New Media for the Vancouver
Canucks and General Motors Place. "Staff will update roster
info, game notes, results, news, community info and photos
on a daily basis, and make this available as quickly as
it happens. In addition, the broadcast team will capture
audio and video clips from the players, coaches and management
and post them throughout the day."
"The
truly unique area of the site will be what we call The Insider.
This section will change daily." said Hebb. "We’ll be getting
inside stuff every day from the players at morning skate,
at practice or when they’re out at community events. Our
media relations personnel will file photos and stories from
the road. Wherever the team goes, canucks.com will deliver
it on-line to our fans."
Canucks.com
will launch to the public at 11:00 a.m. on January 10, 2001
and will feature streaming video clips of Canucks players
past and present, pregame notes and information as well
as video and audio of home-game preparations. There will
also be postgame recaps from our writers, extensive locker
room information and a new and improved Fan Forum section
where the Canucks invite their fans to meet after the game.
Canucks.com
is hosted by TELUS in partnership with myBC.com and provides
a high-performance site that now features more information
with shorter download time. Another partner, INSINC,
will provide the streaming video technology that will give
the site the unique capability of delivering video and audio
through a customized player, designed specifically for Canucks.com.
The
site is dedicated to bringing the fan closer to the team
and will include even more sophisticated features in Phase
Two which will launch in time for the playoffs.
