Port Moody, BC - The Smart Choices Society has chosen Interactive Netcasting Systems Inc. (INSINC) as the service provider and technical support network for the citysoup.ca Innovation Centre’s web broadcast studio in Port Moody. In this role INSINC will deliver a turnkey solution for the studio that will provide live and on-demand streaming video and Internet radio services from the Port Moody location and audio/video conferencing from the Coquitlam location. INSINC will also deliver equipment and training for mobile filming options. The opening of a "self serve" web broadcast studio that requires minimal technical knowledge to operate will give residents and businesses access to affordable digital tools that are revolutionizing the marketing and education industries. Dogwood Pavilion, for example, could host a weekly "oldies" radio show, or S.U.C.C.E.S.S could create a series of ESL lessons for distribution via CD or from their website. Companies can develop sales or product training videos available for viewing from their existing website or on a CD for both internal and external use. Merchants, too, can use the studio to produce seasonal showcases of their latest products to share with their customers via email or from their website. Aspiring actors and directors can film promotional pieces, while local theatres can share clips from their latest musical or play to entice audiences. "This web broadcast studio is a shining example of the type of leading edge innovations the Smart Choices project is delivering to our local companies to help them stay ahead in an increasingly competitive business environment," says Smart Choices Society Chair R. W. (Bill) Brown. "With its self-serve functionality and advanced tools, this broadcast studio will be a source of opportunity and convenience for both citizens and businesses in the community." "Together, through the Smart Choices project and the citysoup.ca Innovation Centre's web broadcast studio, Port Moody and Coquitlam continue to deliver innovative services to our residents," says Port Moody Mayor Joe Trasolini. He adds: "We are committed to continuously finding new ways for our community to improve our quality of life and we look forward to working with INSINC to providing a world-class facility for all citysoup.ca visitors." "The web broadcast studio in Port Moody is a perfect complement to the combination of traditional and eBusiness services to be offered at citysoup.ca's Innovation Centre location in Coquitlam," says Jon Kingsbury, Mayor, City of Coquitlam. "Between the two locations citysoup.ca will deliver a new business resource library, audio/video conferencing, One-stop business registration and a wireless-ready Internet café, all tremendous resources for everyone in our community." "We are very excited to be participating in the citysoup.ca Innovation Centre," states INSINC President, Hugh Dobbie. "Webcasting has been embraced by leading information portals and is fast becoming a de facto standard for effective corporate communications. The citysoup.ca webcasting centre will bring the residents and businesses of Port Moody and Coquitam the advantage of leading edge technologies virtually to their doorsteps." Both citysoup.ca Innovation Centre locations will offer extensive support for community groups as well, allowing them to take advantage of meeting space and additional resources to aid in fundraising. Education, too, will play a large role in bringing the benefits of all aspects of the Smart Choices project to the community. Online training programs will be combined with technology coaching and other learning options as part of the citysoup.ca Innovation Centre's deliverables. About Smart Choices Society Smart Choices is an exciting partnership between business, government, community organizations and community members themselves. The Community Portal, which will be found at www.citysoup.ca when it launches this fall, will offer residents a combination of personal, business and government information and services. Whether it's checking the weather and traffic; finding a voice in local government; learning about computers or the Internet; renewing a business license; paying a parking fine; learning how to prepare for an earthquake; participating in a community group; signing up for volunteer activities; booking swimming lessons; locating a daycare or pre-school; or finding the best deal on new drapes, for Coquitlam and Port Moody residents, citysoup.ca will be the place to go.
